Ralph Waldo Emerson
1803-1882
Ralph Waldo Emerson was born on May 25, 1803 in Boston, Massachusetts. After studying at Harvard and teaching for a short period, he entered the ministry. In 1831 he resigned shortly after the death of his wife. The following year, he traveled to Europe to visit with British thinkers and form his own philosophy. Upon return to the New England region, he married his second wife and settled down in Concord, Massachusetts. In 1836 he released his first book called Nature. Years later he started publishing his poetic works that were often called harsh and didactic. In the year of 1882, Emerson died of pneumonia.
