John Keats
1795-1821
John Keats was born on October 31, 1795 in London. Early in his life he lost both of his parents and was given to two London merchants be his grandmother. After being apprenticed to an apothecary, he met an editor of the Examiner which published his sonnets. Through this experience, he also met other influential writers of the time like Percy Shelley and William Wordsworth. This group influenced him to write his first volume. Later that year he released Endymion which was criticized by two of the more popular magazines of the time. The years following, Keats released two more volumes of poems before his death in 1821 at the age of 25.
